Ok fans are usually unhappy when their teams change to new uniforms or new logos. I am writing in defense of the new logo. I like the fact that it is simplified, and highly identifiable. The tiger head left ambiguity to the common fan of the fact that it was even an NFL team.
Complaints with retorts:
"looks like a kid drew it" = Ok you name a highly popular team and I will show you a simple logo. The chicago cubs C, the Yankees NY, the Reds C, the Boston Red sow B, the San Fran 49, etc. Logos don't have to look like Michealangelo drew them. They are supposed to be recognizable to the average fan.
"Not scary enough" = Once again name me a team that is highly popular and has a scary logo. If that was the case teams would be called the Chicago Chain saw killing decapitators - with a bloody axe and a disfigured mutilated body. Logos are not supposed to strike fear. Does anyone feel that the homosexual pirate on the Raiders helmet is scary?
* Also the logo looks great on Polos and hats. It has clean lines and even a small retro feel to it. If Marvin Lewis like that is good enough for me. The tiger head never brought us any success anyway and my 2-14 loyalties to it can be erased quickly.
I love the new logo, keep the helmets the same, but I am sure Marvin will incorporate it nicely onto the actual uniform.
